The letter that inspired
An Encouraging Word Ministry: Philemon
Philemon 1:7
“I take great joy and encouragement in your love, because you have refreshed the hearts of the saints.”
Philemon was written by Apostle Paul when he was old and in prison. It is a recommendation letter for a fellow prisoner who had been transformed by God while in prison. It is believed to be the only letter he wrote in his own handwriting.

The ministry was founded November 15, 2013 in Denver, Colorado. It is multi-denominational and part of the International Network of Prison Ministries. The Ministry serves over 650 Insiders in 125 prisons in 40 states.
To date, more than 1,000 letters have been exchanged along with 3,000 cards and fliers. More than 500 personal Bibles and “Jesus Calling” daily devotionals by Sarah Young have been sent directly to individual Insiders.
The only qualification to joining the ministry is your willingness. You do not have to be a skillful writer, biblical scholar or a professional counselor. You do not have to undergo lengthy state training. All you have to do is CARE! You set the pace. The amount of time and effort is totally dependent on your schedule. If your handwriting is a concern, there are email possibilities, or you can type your letters. It’s up to you.
